
Person shot during encounter with ICE agents in New York, source says
A person was shot during an encounter with federal immigration agents in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, according to the New York Police Department.
Around 4 p.m., ICE enforcement and deportation operations agents encountered a person they were targeting and fired shots, according to preliminary information from a law enforcement source.
The person injured in the shooting was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was conscious, police said. The injury is not considered life-threatening, according to the police source.
Two officers were also injured in the clash, according to the source, and are being treated at a local hospital.
CNN has contacted the Department of Homeland Security for comment.
The NYPD was not involved in the incident and was not at the scene of the shooting, the department said in a statement on X.
