According to DC, the film “unveils one man’s horrific descent from rising Hollywood star to vengeance-filled monster in a story that explores the loss of identity and humanity, corrosive love, and the dark underbelly of scientific ambition.”
Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini wrote the screenplay for the pic, produced by Reeves, Lynn Harris and James Gunn and Safran of DC Studios. Executive producers are Michael E. Uslan, Chantal Nong Vo, Lars P. Winther, Rafi Crohn and Paul Richie.

At Comic-Con, director James Watkins said that clay face was going to give people a lot of disgust and a lot of gore,” adding, “But there’s also an emotional core that gives it dimension.
