The curtain was finally raised on Mythic Achievements this week as the Xbox equivalent of a Platinum Trophy was rolled out to Xbox Insiders, with a full public release expected to follow in the coming weeks.
Just to remind you that Mythic Achievements are awarded for completing all of an Xbox game’s “original achievements”, meaning you don’t need to obtain all of the DLC achievements or anything added in a later title update.
They’re also backdated to the Xbox 360 era, so we’re talking 20 years of history.
“You earn a Mythic achievement when you complete all of the original achievements in a game. Achievements added later via DLC or updates are not required, and once you achieve Mythic status, you can keep it.”
“Mythic achievements have already been added to eligible games you’ve completed in the past, including XBOX 360 titles. So the next time you visit your profile, you may find that some of your favorite games have already reached Mythic status.”
With that in mind, how many do you think you have? There’s a pretty easy way to check this: go to your profile on Xbox, scroll down to the gaming tab, then filter your achievements for “Completed” titles. Anything you see in there with 100% completion should technically be rewarded with a Mythic in the near future.
That said, it’s worth keeping in mind that Xbox says “eligible” games will get Mythic, and it’s still unclear whether there are any exceptions from the last 20 years that aren’t applicable.
Assuming everything is counted, how many do you think you have? There are only a few in my case (I very rarely complete a game 100%), but I think some Pure Xbox users might literally have hundreds of Mythics waiting for them!
