Prediction: Micron could turn $10,000 into a fortune by 2030

Micron (UM -5.63%) has been a great stock to own in 2026, but I’m betting it will rise further by 2030. In fact, it could turn a $10,000 investment made today into a $42,000 position by then – and that’s on the conservative side of my estimated range.

It may seem unrealistic, but the path forward for the company seems clear.

Micron has a major growth opportunity on its hands

The reason Micron has done so well in 2026 is because memory chip prices are skyrocketing. Essentially, demand is far greater than supply and new production capacity cannot be brought on stream quickly. A simple economic theory is that when such market conditions occur, the price of goods sold skyrockets.

This is exactly what happened in the memory chip space, and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Micron’s management team informed investors that it expects market conditions in 2027 and 2028 to be tighter than they were in 2026, so memory prices could continue to rise. For its 2027 fiscal year, which began September 4, Wall Street analysts expect Micron to achieve revenue growth of 106%. For fiscal 2028, they’re only forecasting 16% growth, but it’s a little too early to make precise predictions for this year, especially given the industry’s current volatility. Analysts have also underestimated AI development at every stage, so I don’t think giving weight to their predictions for 2028 is worth it at the moment.

Micron has signed several long-term sales agreements with customers that will extend through 2030; These deals indicate that the huge demand for memory chips is poised to persist at least until the end of the decade. Additionally, Micron has new manufacturing facilities opening in mid-2027 and late 2028, which will increase its production capacity. So, if memory prices remain high and Micron manages to increase production, its revenues will continue to increase.

For this projection, I’ll start with Wall Street’s revenue projection of $318 billion for fiscal 2027, then assume that Micron’s revenue will grow at a rate of 30% over the following years. This would generate nearly $700 billion in revenue by 2030. Thanks to soaring memory chip prices, Micron’s profit margins are also maximized.

If we are a little conservative in this estimate and assume a long-term profit margin of 60%, this would generate net income of $419 billion by 2030. If we value the company at 20 times current earnings (its current price-to-earnings ratio is 13, but cyclical factors strongly influence this), this would translate into a stock valuation of $8.4 trillion. This is much bigger than the largest company in the world is today. Even if we say it would be valued at 10 times earnings, that would be a $4.19 trillion company.

That would turn $10,000 into nearly $42,000 by 2030, making this stock an obvious buy.
