FT: Fulham 1-0 Hull City
Fulham
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day: “I’m very happy, especially for the fans, they deserve this victory, for the players, they were looking for this victory and worked very hard. We deserved it in other matches, but we couldn’t get it; today was finally the day.
“We had the same feeling as in other matches, when we controlled the game for long periods and had good chances, but didn’t score. Our rivals punish our mistakes or take their chances, but today we were brilliant for 90 minutes. We controlled the game, we had a lot of chances and didn’t concede any clear chances to Hull, a very good team. They are difficult to beat. We have to keep going and keep improving.
“We have so many talented players who can score. They will have chances. The bench players will also be very important for us. We have a lot of chances and we have to try to take them.
On Ryan Sessegnon’s red card: “He was unlucky, he wanted to get the ball back. I didn’t see (the replay), maybe it was a clear red card. Everyone knows Ryan, he didn’t want to take that challenge. It’s unlikely for the Hull player; we feel sorry for him.”
On using this first victory as a springboard: “It’s a massive game for us, a massive week because we have Coventry and then Palace in seven days. It won’t be easy, but we know how we have to play and compete, we have to be competitive in this league. We have our way and hopefully we can in many games.”
