President Trump on Sunday’s game in Paris: ‘The NFL probably could have postponed’
The NFL plans to continue Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Saints in Paris.
Asked about the situation by reporters on Friday, President Trump expressed his reservations about this decision.
“Well you worry“, he said. “That’s not the case – I think maybe tomorrow is going to be a bad day in France. So you worry about it. I would have said the NFL probably could have postponed this game, if you want to know the truth. Because France is really in difficulty.”
A postponement is not really possible, given the NFL schedule. Relocation would make the most sense, with the game moving to one of two NFL-ready stadiums in London. (As far as we know, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley Stadium are available.)
For now, the NFL’s attitude is: “the show must go on.” Although the show could end up being something very different than what the NFL envisioned.
