Prime Video previews first look at ‘Bloodaxe’ from ‘Vikings’ creator
Prime Video has released the first images from “Bloodaxe,” a new original series from “Vikings” creator Michael Hirst and Horatio Hirst.
Season 1 of “Bloodaxe” follows the rise of Erik Bloodaxe (Xavier Molyneux, “Neighbors”), one of the most famous Nordic raiders, and his formidable wife Gunnhild, mother of kings (Jessica Madsen, star of “Bridgerton”). As the duo fight for the Nordic throne, the land is torn apart by rivals and betrayals. War, chaos and other kings set the stage for this new Norse saga.
The first season also stars Karlis Arnolds Avots (“Kill Jackie”), Levi Miller (“Kraven the Hunter”), Rod Hallett (“Suspect: The Jean Charles De Menezes Shootout”), Alina Tomnikov (“Donna”), Sisse Marie (“Rebel Moon”), Rune Temte (“Eddie the Eagle”) and Jesper Christensen (“Spectre”).
Michael and Horatio Hirst are showrunners, writers and executive producers. Morgan O’Sullivan also serves as executive producer under his O’Sullivan Productions label, alongside Steve Stark under his Toluca Pictures label, Arturo Interian, John Weber and Sheila Hockin.
“Bloodaxe” does not have an official release date but is expected to be released in 2027. All eight episodes will debut on Prime Video. The series has already been picked up for a second season, currently in production in Ireland.
