Producer Riichiro Yamada Seems to Confirm Virtua Fighter Crossroads Character

Lionel Rafale was recently announced for Virtua Fighter Crossroads. It is widely believed that Lionel Rafale is the son of Lion Rafale, a character who debuted in Virtua Fighter 2, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Characters confirmed so far are Akira, Stella, Wolf Hawkfield, Pai Chan, Cielo Salinas, the Bakunawa Killer and Lionel Rafale. This brings the character count to seven characters, with more likely to be on the way.
On Discord, Riichiro Yamada, producer of the Virtua Fighter Crossroads project, made an interesting statement that seemed to imply the unconfirmation of a certain fighter.
Hello everyone. Meet Yamada, producer and creative director of Virtua Fighter Crossroads.
What did you think of Lionel’s video that we showed the other day? I would love to hear your thoughts! Alongside new characters, this title will also feature a variety of characters carrying the spirit of the series, appearing in all sorts of ways. Stay tuned for more updates!
That said… teasing you wouldn’t be much fun, so here’s some exclusive news just for our Discord community:
Taka-Arashi has already retired in Virtua Fighter Crossroads.
Notably, Taka-Arashi is a sumo wrestler who debuted in Virtua Fighter 3. He bears a striking resemblance to E. Honda from Street Fighter and Ganryu from Tekken.
At first glance, it would appear that Taka-Arashi retired as a sumo wrestler during the Virtua Fighter Crossroads era. This seems to imply that he won’t be a playable character this time around.
Does this mean there won’t be any sumo wrestlers in Crossroads? It’s entirely possible that a newcomer will replace Taka-Arashi as the game’s sumo wrestler representative, but that’s just speculation at the moment.
