PS5 Revives Retro Clear Hardware With 3 Gorgeous New Accessory Colors

Sony has provided some really nice colorways for the PS5 console and DualSense controller, but I think this just-announced Prism collection might be my favorite.
The Prism Collection brings back clear plastic, also allowing you to look through the shell and see the inner workings of your console and controller. You can get a taste of what it looks like in the video below:
The trio of new colors is called Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray.
As mentioned, the main appeal of these accessories is their transparency, revealing the technology beneath the outer layer. It reminds us of the 90s, when transparent hardware was a trend in gaming and beyond.
Even without this element, I really like the three colors themselves, but making them transparent is also a lot of fun.
“We know how much our fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of transparent controllers,” said Leo Cardoso, designer on PlayStation’s Color, Material and Finish team. “We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend from the late 90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the industrial design of the PS5.”
Satoshi Aoyagi talks more about the design intentions:
“The high-gloss transparent finish extends across the back of the controller, offering a glimpse of the technology that powers the DualSense controller while maintaining a sleek, monochromatic look. The metallic finish on the center cover brings together the contrasting surfaces for a premium appearance that feels consistent with the PS5 generation. To complement the futuristic aesthetic, we carefully selected three distinct colors: a bright orange that subtly takes on a pink hue where the transparent material overlaps, a deep hunter green that gains depth with its transparency, and a stormy gray with cold tones.
You’ll be able to get DualSense PS5 controllers in these colors as well as console covers for the current standard PS5 model. It appears there are no variants for PS5 Pro or older PS5 iterations.
If you’re interested in grabbing any of these Prism Collection items, pre-orders begin on November 10, 2026, available directly through PlayStation or other unspecified retailers. The products will be released from February 4, 2027.
In terms of price, it is similar to previous alternative color accessories. The controllers will cost $84.99/€84.99/£74.99, while the corresponding console covers will cost $74.99 USD/€74.99/£64.99.
