Rain in metro Denver, snow in mountains overnight; soggy Thursday morning, clearing in the afternoon

It will be a soggy start to Thursday with scattered showers for the morning commute. Metro rain and mountain snow will persist until midday before skies clear from north to south. Daytime highs will remain below average in the low to mid 50s in the afternoon.

The Broncos-Seahawks game at Empower Field Thursday night will be cold and windy! You might see a few spotty showers for tailgating, but skies will clear in time for kickoff. Bundle up because temperatures will drop to between 40° and 40° by the 4th quarter.

Skies will clear quickly Thursday evening, allowing temperatures to drop overnight. Widespread frost or severe frost is possible Thursday evening into Friday morning, prompting a Frost Watch for the Denver metro area and eastern Plains until 9 a.m. Friday. Temperatures Friday will remain cool, with highs mostly in the mid to upper 50s under sunny skies and light winds.

Warmer weather returns just in time for the weekend. Highs will reach the mid 70s on Saturday, with another mild day expected on Monday. More clouds could drop temperatures a bit on Sunday, potentially keeping some areas in the 60s and 70s, but dry weather is expected to persist.

For the next week, temperatures will remain above normal, with mostly dry conditions continuing into Tuesday and Wednesday. The next system to watch is expected to develop along the West Coast late next week, potentially bringing another chance for wet weather to Colorado.
