Real Madrid are demanding the resignation of La Liga president Javier Tebas after he compared the club’s management’s rhetoric to propaganda methods used by the Nazi Party in Germany.
Tebas wrote earlier on Friday on social media that “Real Madrid management leads an orchestra of spokespersons and Real Madrid television leads the singing.”

The LaLiga president was responding to articles from two journalists claiming that he and LaLiga were acting against Real’s interests.
Tebas added that the authors of the El Debate newspaper were amplifying a message from Real management.
Real Madrid’s demand for Tebas to immediately resign deepens the feud between the club and the La Liga chief.
Last month, Real called for a new La Liga president in response to Tebas calling his complaints about refereeing decisions a “smokescreen” for his on-pitch shortcomings.
Tebas on Friday criticized Real Madrid television’s coverage of the refereeing of their matches.
“Their score is always the same: choose the games that suit them, repeat grievances, fuel suspicions and point fingers at enemies,” he writes.
“This method is reminiscent of the propaganda mechanisms used by Goebbels, the Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany.
“The comparison is with these propaganda techniques, not with an ideology or, of course, with the Madrid fan base,” added the La Liga president.
Real Madrid demand Tebas’ resignation as La Liga boss
Real Madrid released a statement on Friday demanding that Tebas resign as La Liga chief and vice-president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
The press release describes it as “intolerable and extraordinarily serious” that Tebas used “a comparison with the propaganda methods of the Nazi regime to discredit our club, its management and its television.”
“Tebas’ repeated behavior demonstrates a lack of neutrality, respect and impartiality incompatible with his institutional responsibilities,” Real said.
“It is unacceptable that he even takes advantage of questions, information or opinions from journalists unrelated to the club to direct his accusations to us, attributing to us actions of third parties for which we take no responsibility.”
The 64-year-old, elected by the 42 professional clubs in Spain’s top two tiers, has been president of La Liga since 2013. In 2023, he was re-electedunopposed until 2027.
Real Madrid’s statement comes hours after La Liga confirmed it was one of six clubs that would sit on the league’s executive committee this season.
