Report: Chiefs ‘very interested’ in Tyreek Hill reunion
Last year, before then-Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a serious knee injury, The leaders were interested by trading for him. Now that he can be signed by anyone, the Chiefs want to sign him.
Via Mike Silver of Athleticsthe leaders are “very interested” during a meeting with Hill. The team, according to Silver, has already contacted Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, regarding the possibility of bringing Hill back.
The first question concerns Hill’s health. Silver says he’s aiming for a November return.
Hill posted “hmm” on Twitter after Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle. Wide receiver Rashee Rice injured his hamstring earlier in the game.
A fifth-round pick in 2016, Hill, 32, spent six seasons in Kansas City. A big contract for receiver Davante Adams in March 2022 prompted Hill to seek a trade to a team that would pay him more.
He spent four years with the Dolphins.
As Silver explains, several Chiefs players have endorsed Hill’s potential return.
“It’s not up to me, but I know I’d love to have ‘The Cheetah’ back in this building,” tight end Travis Kelce said. “He’s a brother. He’s one of those people that, when he sets out to do something, he usually succeeds. You saw him in Miami, when all the haters were saying he couldn’t play and he went and had his best year. I’d be excited about what he could do (here).”
“I have no idea (if that would happen), but it would be pretty cool,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes said.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones was more direct: “I hope we do it. It would be dangerous… Dangerous!”
During a media tour in New Orleans before Super Bowl LIX, Hill admitted he regretted leaving the Chiefs. If he’s healthy, he might have a chance to return, which would fuel efforts to chase another Super Bowl ring.
