Rob Lowe’s son Matthew marries Emily Markus in high-profile wedding
Rob Lowe’s son, Matthew Lowe, married Emily Markus in Santa Barbara, California, shortly after the actor’s niece died.
The couple’s star-studded nuptials included an enviable guest list including Cameron Diaz, Adam Levine, Katy Perry, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña and Maria Shriver, as seen in exclusive photos obtained by Page Six.
Gwyneth Paltrow was the celebrant of the ceremony.
Ahead of the big day, Markus took to Instagram Stories with what appeared to be a glimpse of the festivities brewing at local restaurant Bluewater Grill, complete with a photo of tables and party flags as the sun set.
“It’s the day before the wedding weekend!” » she wrote above the photo.
Matthew, 33, is the eldest of the “Wayne’s World” actor’s two sons and his wife of 35 years, Sheryl Berkoff.
They also share son John Lowe, 30.
This milestone family moment comes less than two weeks after the tragic death of Fiona Lowe, the daughter of Rob’s brother Chad Lowe, at the age of 13.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving, intelligent, creative young girl and loved to dance,” her family shared in a statement to Page Six at the time.
“She was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating to our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
The statement concluded: “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”
Fiona was pronounced dead at the hospital on September 29, with the cause of death confirmed as suicide, according to Los Angeles medical examiner records obtained by Page Six on October 1.
The “Pretty Little Liars” actor and his wife, producer Kim Painter, shared Fiona with their daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
The Los Angeles family community rallied around the Lowe family following the teenager’s tragic death with offers of help and support, as emotional tributes to Fiona flooded social media.
Matthew’s brother John was among the family members who shared an inspiring thought via Instagram after the loss, quoting a poem by Emily Dickinson.
“HOPE is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the wordless melody, and never stops at all,” the poem reads.
“And the sweetest wind is heard; and the storm must be the most violent that can bring down the little bird that has kept so many people warm,” he continues.
“I have heard him in the coldest lands and on the strangest seas; and yet, never, in the extreme, has he asked me for a crumb.”
Chad returned to social media on Thursday following his daughter’s death, sharing a replay featuring footage from Olivia Hunt’s “On Healing” podcast, with guest Gerry Hussey.
“We are all part of the frequency,” Hussey said, adding, “We both possess the human and the divine.”
He added in part: “When you ask yourself deeper and broader questions and you go beyond human existence and through meditation or anything else, you experience the transcendental experience. »
“We are connected to everything that exists, it has meaning and there is nothing but peace in love.”
