On October 12, Polish authorities blamed Russian intelligence services for the arson of a Starlink ground station in Poland on September 23 and said two Turkish citizens had been arrested as suspects in Germany.

The two suspects were arrested on October 10 on behalf of the Polish services, suspected of having set fire to the Wola Krobowska station, in the Mazovia voivodeship in Poland, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in a message on X. He described the attack as “a new act of hybrid warfare”.

Tomasz Siemoniak, the coordinating minister for Poland’s special services, blamed Russia for the attack, AP reported.

“We have no doubt that Russian intelligence services are behind this act of sabotage,” he said, according to AP.

He also said that “it should be added that Russian services are increasingly turning to individuals linked to “the underworld,” according to Deutsche Welle.

On September 24, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski told reporters that a fire at a Starlink ground station in Poland could be a deliberate attempt to disrupt Internet access used by Ukrainian forces at the front.

The station is operated by state telecommunications company Exatel and serves as an Internet hub that routes traffic across Poland, including to Ukraine, Gawkowski said.

He suggested that Russia could be behind the incident, describing it as potentially part of Moscow’s hybrid warfare.

Polish authorities are also investigating an alleged assassination plot targeting Tusk and his deputy, Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, Jacek Dobrzynski, a spokesman for Polish intelligence agencies, said Oct. 11.

The police received numerous reports of a possible assassination attempt, following which a meeting was convened between representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, the State Protection Service and the Internal Security Agency.

“We take this matter very seriously,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a press briefing on October 11.
