Ryan Day doesn’t like bye weeks, but he’s glad Ohio State has one right now.
On Monday’s Buckeye Roundtable on 97.1 The Fan, Day reiterated that Julian Sayin will be out for “at least several weeks” following an injury suffered against Indiana.
This mirrors what Day said after the game on Saturday, although he did mention that Sayin was still undergoing tests and meetings to determine his status for the remainder of the season.
What was an update from Day on Monday was his stance on the bye week, because in light of Sayin’s injury, he’s certainly glad the Buckeyes aren’t playing a game this Saturday.
“I don’t like bye weeks because being inactive for a week isn’t ideal,” Day said. “That being said, I think everything that’s going on with Julian being down and with our guys’ health, I think it’s coming at a good time, so I think there’s definitely an upside to this week for us.”
But although it’s a bye week and Sayin is out taking snaps as the first-team quarterback, it’s business as usual for Ohio State.
“We’re going to stay busy here. We’ve got a lot to do. We’re going to get into some self-recognition,” Day said. “We’re going to work on our fundamentals. We’re going to make sure we’re there this week and keep our advantage next week.”
