Sam’s Club Manager Says Convenience Is Changing How Members Buy Fresh Food

Comments Off on Sam’s Club Manager Says Convenience Is Changing How Members Buy Fresh Food

Myron Frazier, director of merchandising at Sam’s Club, told FOX Business that members still want value, but increasingly want fresh food delivered, available for curbside pickup or designed to make meal times easier.

Grocery shoppers still want “high quality” fresh food at a “good value,” but convenience is becoming an increasingly important part of that equation, Sam’s Club executive vice president and chief merchandising officer Myron Frazier told FOX Business.

As members of the Arkansas-based retail warehouse continue to prioritize quality and value, Frazier said they increasingly want fresh food delivered to their homes, available for curbside pickup or otherwise accessible “on their own terms.”

“What’s changed is that convenience is becoming more and more important in the value equation,” Frazier said.

The shift comes as grocers and warehouse retailers invest in delivery, curbside pickup and digital shopping options to meet consumers’ growing demand for convenience.

About 70% of consumers prefer home delivery for online grocery orders, with most expecting groceries to arrive the same day or within a few hours, according to McKinsey & Company’s “The State of Grocery North America 2026” report.

To meet these changing shopping habits, Sam’s Club is expanding its line of ready-to-cook meals while offering members more ways to purchase fresh foods.

“We really lean into this idea of offering fresh, high-quality food in a way that is convenient from the club to your home and then from the stove or oven to the table,” Frazier said.

Frazier highlighted products such as Sam’s Club’s fresh panko chicken breast, which shoppers can use to quickly prepare a meal, and its ready-to-cook “Marry Me Chicken,” which can feed a family of four in about 12 minutes.

“For us, it’s that combination of the Sam’s Club experience — from developing the item they want, curating it so the choice is easy, and then giving them the opportunity to get it the way they want it,” he said.

“Whether it’s in the club, whether it’s curbside or whether it’s delivered to their home in less than an hour.”

Frazier added that members can have fresh items delivered via Sam’s Club’s express delivery service in less than an hour, which he said offers fresh groceries with no markup.

Looking ahead, Frazier said Sam’s Club will continue to rely on convenience as it expands its new businesses, with digital shopping playing an increasingly important role.

“Our digital business and (our) digital penetration has doubled in the last two years,” Frazier said. “And so I’m really excited about that, because we’re offering fresh produce in a way that our members are asking us to do.”

The strategy aligns with Walmart’s broader push to make shopping faster and more convenient. In its second-quarter earnings report released Aug. 20, Walmart said U.S. Sam’s Club online sales increased 26 percent, driven by continued growth in club pickup and delivery.
