Samsung isn’t holding back when it comes to the iPhone Duo’s complicated startup. In new ads, the company mocks the iPhone Duo’s “crackgate” by urging customers to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead, and there’s not an ounce of subtlety here.

Following the debut of Apple’s first foldable, an unfortunate trend emerged among early buyers. A number of users have found that their screen is “cracked”, with the display panel dying in the center, all in exactly the same way, implying that there is a flaw in Apple’s hinge design.

Apple is replacing affected devices, but it’s a somewhat heartbreaking reminder that this is the company’s first attempt with this hardware.

And Samsung is happy to point this out.

In an ad for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 on Instagram, Samsung states that “folding is nothing new to us” and that “we know a thing or eight.” This gets straight to the point: “Upgrade to Galaxy Z Fold8.” The attached images then represent the famous “crack” in the iPhone Duo screen.

This was published on the Samsung Canada account, while another announcement from Samsung Malaysia goes even further:

I’m feeling a little FOMO seeing all this talk about sustainability…oops, we were just busy packing up and moving on with our day

Samsung Australia also poked fun at Apple’s durability issues with a post about “what life is like when your screen doesn’t shatter when you open your phone.”

Another article from Samsung Saudi Arabia cracks the iPhone Duo on a Galaxy Z Fold 8 before revealing that it’s just a wallpaper.
