Bernie Sanders is opening his war chest.
For months, the Vermont senator crisscrossed the country riding progressives to a string of primary victories. Now, he told POLITICO, he’s dipping into his sizable campaign coffers as part of a broader effort to propel battleground Democrats to the finish line in November.
His campaign had nearly $23 million on hand as of July 1 and is currently contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the lieutenant governor.
