The return of Shane Gillis to Saturday evening live featured an unsafe slide through the air in a Dr. Seuss-inspired sketch.
In this weekend’s episode, the comedian accidentally dropped an F-bomb while playing the Cat in the Hat’s defensive son (Mikey Day) who is suspicious of Sam I Am (Andrew Dismukes) who pressures him to eat green eggs and ham.
“Hey, what’s wrong with you? My dad said he didn’t like them. Stay away,” Gillis said.

“Bro, he’s not a starter. He said he doesn’t fucking do anything,” he added, immediately covering his mouth. “Dammit! – like them.”
Although Gillis continued in the sketch, Day recalled the expletive later. “It’s Zachary who’s leaving. I want you to leave this house. You’re a loser and you said a bad word!” he said.
Gillis admitted: “Yes, I did.”
Although censors failed to detect the F-bomb during live broadcast and streaming, SNL posted the sketch on social media later that night with the word muted.
Gillis was removed from the featured cast of SNL in 2019, shortly after his announcement. Since then, he has hosted the show three times, notably in 2024 and 2025.
