Shivon Zilis claims relationship with Elon Musk ended ‘without warning’
Shivon Zilis, Neuralink executive and mother of four to Elon Musk, went public with a relationship update on Friday. And she did it on X after he unfollowed her on the social platform he owns.
A message shared from Zilis’ X account said she went “from love to letting go in a week without warning.”
“I loved him more than life itself and he taught me 100 lifetimes of knowledge and made my cup of the meaning of life overflow, so there is a lot of loss, but luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I am so much more grateful for our children and they make every day the best day of my life! I hope and pray for that he and I can be great friends and co-parents,” the message read.
“I’m hurting, but I care deeply about E and will always encourage her happiness,” she added.
The post included a screenshot showing Musk texting Zilis on September 24 about having dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the exchange, Musk said he would have invited Zilis if he had known he could bring a “significant other” as a plus-one. He also shared an article about Musk no longer following Zilis on X.
Zilis, Neuralink and Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Zilis’ message is an unusually intimate dispatch from one of the most private people in Musk’s orbit. Zilis works at Musk’s neurotechnology company Neuralink as director of operations and special projects.
In 2022, Business Insider reported that Zilis did not disclose to OpenAI that she had twins with Musk while serving on the AI lab’s board of directors. BI’s reporting was presented during Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI in May.
Zilis took the stand during the trial in that case and testified about her relationship with Musk, saying they had a “romantic relationship.”
“We live together when we travel and we spend time as a family in Austin,” Zilis said of Musk, adding that he was “partly” supportive of the kids.
The post on Zilis’ account drew comments praising her for her kind comments about Musk and others criticizing her for including a screenshot of a private text exchange.
Another Silicon Valley executive added his two cents: Alexandr Wang, head of Meta’s AI efforts, who made headlines when Musk unfollowed him.
