Saturday evening live kicked off Season 52 by tackling one of the most troubling elements of the Trump administration’s inner workings that came to light over the summer: White House aide Natalie Harp’s relationship with the president.
Harp, 35, has been Donald Trump’s executive assistant since his first day back in office and is often at his side. A former host of the right-wing television network One America News and later an aide to Trump’s 2024 campaign, Harp helps him manage his social media account and, as a “human printer,” feeds him positive stories. In letters Harp sent her in 2023 — ones that sparked concern among others close to Trump — she called him her “guardian and protector in this life” and wrote, “You are all that matters to me.” At one of Trump’s golf outings that year, Harp was seen chasing his golf cart to keep up.
It is this alarmingly dedicated energy that SNLAshley Padilla’s Ashley Padilla played this role when she burst into a meeting in Manhattan between Trump (James Austin Johnson) and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani (Ramy Youssef).
Trump, in the midst of the nor’easter currently battering the East Coast, asks, “What kind of reckless fool would come see me in this kind of weather?” after being informed that he has a special visitor.
“Hello, Mr. President! Hello!” » said a Harp, laughing. Her hair is wet and she is not wearing a jacket.
“Natalie, I didn’t realize you were in New York,” Trump said.
“Oh, I wasn’t. I ran here from DC, Weapons-style,” Harp admits. “I came in case you needed anything, because…” she begins, before launching into a Beyoncé song about how he was on her mind.
Harp insists she’s “completely normal.” But then she approaches Mamdani and whispers a warning in his ear that suggests otherwise.
“If you hurt him,” she said, growing serious, “I will kill you.”
Trump was at a loss for words. “Wow,” was all he could say.
