‘SNL’ Cold Open: Trump Crashes Tom Hanks’ Halloween to Praise His ‘Great A**’
On Saturday evening liveIn the Halloween episode of , Donald Trump appeared during a couple’s haunted house tour to show spooky signs of his aging and to make strange praise for Tom Hanks.
Trump (James Austin Johnson) interrupted Hanks’ portrayal of David S. Pumpkins, the jack-o’-lantern blazer-wearing character he debuted a decade ago alongside Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan, as skeletons. The trio starred in a follow-up sketch in 2022.
“Aw, are you sad you won’t see your third David Pumpkins scene?” Trump was mocked by the audience. “I’ll save you four minutes: he keeps appearing and confusing people during the ride. The end.”
“I actually have a lot in common with Mr. Pumpkins,” he continued. “We both appeared in 2016, we are both very loud, very orange and very, frankly, annoying!”
“But we love Tom Hanks. Look at him over there. Great acting,” he said as Hanks and everyone else stood frozen. “Great ass! Great ass on Hanks. That’s something I’ve been doing lately: admiring men’s asses. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just that I might be gay. They call it ‘gay dementia’. ‘Dementia’, short for ‘men should’ show me their asses.”
Trump then addressed another recent aspect of his rally speeches: bizarre vocal sounds.
“What was that?” » he asked after making such a noise. “Probably a soul trying to leave its body.”
As for Tuesday’s midterm elections, Trump said he doesn’t expect success.
“They say Texas transforms people, just like my hand,” the 80-year-old said, raising his frequently bruised right hand. “And if she turns blue, then – just like my hand – I’ll leave her for dead. We can’t let that happen, so we have to vote for that horrible Ken Paxton. My God, what an ugly son of a bitch. I hate that guy.”
Democrat James Talarico, on the other hand, “is honestly much better looking – and wow, what a dynamite ass.”
After rapper Nicki Minaj (Saidah Belo-Osagie) insulted Democrats, Trump concluded by welcoming a new SNL character for what will likely be his only appearance: Katie Zacharia, whom he fired from her press secretary position after less than a week.
Zacharia (Veronika Slowikowska), true to her one press briefing, delved into the big phrase “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”
So Trump assigned the task to Hanks, Day and Moynihan, who did it without incident.
