
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two updates and DLC announced
SEGA (2,738 articles)” href=”https://www.gematsu.com/companies/sega”>SEGA announced new updates and downloadable content for its crossover racing game Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (35 articles)” href=”https://www.gematsu.com/games/sonic-racing-crossworlds”>Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds during the second year, which officially begins on November 3.
New updates coming Sonic Racing: Crossed Worlds include:
- Major day one updates
- Duel Mode – During the second year of Sonic Racing: CrossWorldsFight your way to the finish line with the all-new thrilling 1v1 Duel mode. In Duel mode, players face a single opponent where item tactics and the new Duel Boost mechanic play a vital role in defeating the competition. The game-changing Duel Boost gauge fills over time and, through frequent item use, can be used strategically to gain big boosts throughout the race. And with the ability to see your opponents’ items, gadgets, and position, playing offense and defense with your own items is the key to gaining and maintaining the advantage. Duel mode can be played in the following ways:
- Duel match between rivals – Offline matches against CPU Rivals (free and owned paid DLC characters). Defeat all rivals to earn rewards, including a special machine.
- Duel Match (Free Match) – Online races against random opponents in a free matchmaking environment.
- Duel Match (Best of 10) – Limited-time online events with special rules, duel class rankings, and medal rewards for competitive play.
- Match between friends – Online races against friends with customizable racing rules, items and items. CrossWorlds.
- Gadget System Upgrade – A new gadget plate, the Grand Master Plate, is introduced at the start of the second year, which adds a 7th “Super Slot” for 1-slot gadgets. Any 1-slot gadget placed in the Super Slot will have its enhanced effect amplified even more, opening up more combinations and possibilities for creative gadget builds. Additionally, 15 new gadgets will be introduced on day one to complement the robust collection of race-changing performance upgrades, with more added with future content updates.
- Post-launch characters as CPU racers – Free characters and paid downloadable characters introduced in the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds the list after its release on September 25, 2025 will now appear as CPU opponents in both online and offline modes.
- Year 2 Free Characters – Year two brings new drivers and machines to an already vast world CrossWorlds list. The first three free characters were announced as part of the Year 2 Showcase:
- Bayonetta – Bayonetta fan favorite graces CrossWorlds with his presence. Bayonetta will be available on November 3, 2026 as an unlockable character through Rival Duel matches.
- McLaren racing – A Speed-like machine modeled after the real race car, driven by Sonic in McLaren’s Papaya and Anthracite livery. Available later in November 2026.
- Aigis – A member of the specialized extracurricular execution team and transfer student to Gekkoukan High School, Aigis sets out to race with her Palladion Dressy, an acceleration-type machine, in early 2027.
- Each free character will be followed by a uniquely themed, limited-time event festival, which offers bonus content rewards that players can earn by participating in and winning festival races. All new festivals will now be active for ten consecutive days, while old fan-favorite festivals will return for shorter periods.
Season Pass Two brings an all-new roadmap of six premium DLC packs, all based on exciting collaborations with iconic entertainment franchises and each offering a unique themed package of CrossWorlds game content. Purchasable downloadable content includes:

In addition to all the updates above, the sequel to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds gaming products will undergo a number of changes to appeal to both dedicated gamers looking to expand their CrossWorlds experience and brand new players looking to jump into the race for the very first time:
- Price drop for Standard and Digital Deluxe editions – With immediate effect, the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds The price of the Standard Edition will be permanently reduced from $69.99 USD to $39.99 USD and the Digital Deluxe Edition will be reduced from $89.99 to $59.99 USD.
- Season Two Pass – The new Season Pass Two can be purchased now for $29.99 USD for all platforms where Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available. It also contains both the SEGA Controller Decal Pack (available from October 9, 2026) and the SEGA Console Pack (available from November 3, 2026). The Super Shadow Pilot and Machine will also be offered as bonus content for Season Pass One and Season Pass Two owners.
- Year 2 Deluxe Digital Edition – The Second Year Digital Deluxe Edition can be purchased now for $59.99 USD for all platforms on which Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available. The product includes the standard edition of the game and Season Pass Two. The current owners of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds should not purchase this edition, as they will receive a redundant copy of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Standard edition.
- First Year Edition (Physics) – The Year One Edition can be purchased for $59.99 USD at select retail stores. This physical product includes the standard edition of the game and Season Pass One; it also contains
- The reversible 35th anniversary blanket
