SpaceX Stock Poised for a Catalyst-Fueled 2027
SpaceX (SPCX) is not going quietly into what could be an eventful 2027.
Elon Musk’s rocket company announced late last week that it had acquired a national portfolio of low-band spectrum. This allows Musk’s satellite business, Starlink, to challenge older wireless giants in the United States.
Shares of AT&T (T), T-Mobile (TMUS) and Verizon (VZ) fell on Friday’s announcement.
Meanwhile, SpaceX is reportedly looking to raise $40 billion in funding to buy Nvidia chips.
“The debate is whether a company so young in its public life should have so much influence,” said Dan Ives, a partner at Yorkville Ives. “We believe the delay in Starlink’s AI and cash generation gives SpaceX the ability to respond, and we would prefer to see this compute funded and deployed rather than delayed.”
As the year comes to a close, here’s a helpful timeline of potential catalysts for SpaceX in 2027 to save for later. It’s important to be overprepared as an investor, especially in a news-driven stock like SpaceX.
Of everything on the calendar, we would circle June 12, 2027 (and the weeks leading up to it). Elon Musk has agreed not to sell any of his roughly 40% to 46.1% stake, or more than 6 billion shares, for 366 calendar days following SpaceX’s June 12, 2026 IPO.
Investors will be watching closely to see if Musk sells SpaceX shares after the blockage. On the one hand, a large supply of Musk shares in the market could weigh on the stock price. And second, the mere sign of a sale from Elon Musk could destabilize SpaceX supporters.
