Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth questionable vs. Buccaneers
The Pittsburgh Steelers have added Pat Freiermuth to their injury report, team spokesperson Burt Lauten said on X. Additionally, Lauten noted that DK Metcalf would play.
“The Steelers have added TE Pat Freiermuth (calf) to the injury report and it is questionable for Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay,” Lauten wrote. “Additionally, WR DK Metcalf (illness) has been removed from the injury report and will not have an injury designation as he is expected to play Sunday.”
Freiermuth had two touchdown receptions against the Colts in Week 5, bringing his season total to four. He is currently on pace for 14 touchdown receptions.
If Freiermuth couldn’t go, Robert Tonyan would likely see an increased role as a second tight end opposite Darnell Washington. Pittsburgh will already be without receivers Michael Pittman, Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek, so losing Freiermuth is the last thing the offense needs as it continues to lose pass catchers.
