Steve Sarkisian, Texas uses new AI platform “Bevo Lab” to help with decision making
University of Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian now has access to new artificial intelligence software and information thanks to an innovative initiative by the Longhorns.
Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte disclosed this information in an interview with Karoline Leonard of the Austin American Statesman this week, noting that Texas-based Bevo Lab AI platform is “the new wave.”
Conte also clarified his previous comments suggesting Texas used Bevo Lab information in last week’s 27-24 loss to Florida:
According to Leonard, Bevo Lab will be available to coaches, trainers, nutritionists, student-athletes and analysts for each Longhorns sports team.
The platform is sponsored by Dell, Google and SHI International and will use Google’s Cloud Platform and Gemini agentic AI system.
Del Conte called the development “upsetting,” while UT Business Sports Institute founder Kirk Goldsberry added, “We’re trying to make good data and good information available to our coaches, so they can make informed decisions and informed strategies to help us win more competitions at the University of Texas.” »
Although Bevo Lab debuted last week with the football team, all varsity sports at the University of Texas will soon have access to the platform.
After a 4-0 start, which included wins over ranked opponents Ohio State and Tennessee, Texas is now 4-2 after back-to-back losses to Oklahoma and Florida.
Now, the Longhorns may be entering a must-win scenario Saturday against No. 7 Ole Miss.
If No. 19 Texas loses, it could all but mark the end of the Longhorns’ quest for a College Football Playoff berth.
