Student bullied before fatally jumping from Los Angeles high school, video shows

Chilling video shows the seconds before a teenager jumped to his death from the fourth floor of a Los Angeles high school on Wednesday – and the terrible bullying he endured.

The video shows the teen in a classroom at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park before his death. Another teenager is seen pushing him to fight, then punching the victim in the face.

He falls and we see him running out of class. The attacker can be heard on the video saying: “Run, na – run. » Another video seconds later showed the teenager throwing himself from a railing.

The fall was fatal and was reported around 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to Los Angeles police.

An ambulance transported the teenager to hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the teen or alleged bully has not been released.

A horrified witness has described what happened at the school.

“I hear things rumbling, falling, and I look up and I see kids fighting. I see one kid get hurt pretty badly…(he) throws himself over the fourth story,” a witness told FOX 11.

In an email sent to parents Wednesday, Principal Marine Davtyan said, “The safety and well-being of our students and staff continues to be our top priority. A medical emergency has forced our school to go into lockdown.”

School officials also said “mental health professionals and support staff will be available throughout the day” Thursday “to provide guidance, support and a safe space for students who wish to speak.”

The LAPD has not released the student’s name or age, and no formal charges against the attacker have been announced so far. All campus doors will remain closed until law enforcement allows the school to reopen.
