Sullivan joins Trump in Alaska Senate race
GIRDWOOD, Alaska — Dan Sullivan don’t run away from the president Donald Trump like so many other vulnerable Republicans. He’s betting that crossing the finish line will help him win re-election in November.
In a candidate debate, speaking at an economic forum and in an interview with Playbook this week, Sullivan repeatedly refused the opportunity to put distance between himself and Trump’s most unpopular policies and positions.
Is the economic pain caused by the war with Iran worth it for Alaskans? “The real economic pain comes when Democrats take control” Sullivan told POLITICO, sitting in the shade of a well-wooded taxidermy moose head, next to a roaring fire, at a ski resort nestled in the mountains off Turnagain Arm, southeast of Anchorage.
What about $5,000 dividends Asset promised voters if Republicans controlled Congress, as he did at a rally for Sullivan in Wasilla on Tuesday? “I have to look at the legislation. I don’t know,” Sullivan said. “This was the first time I heard that from him, and I will just evaluate it if and when it happens.”
