Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Ohio Neighbors Angry Over Renovations to Their New $5 Million Home
Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce already seem to have problems with their new neighbors.
Earlier this year it was reported by the Wall Street Journal that Kelce, 37, purchased a $5.35 million lakefront estate in Ohio and renovations are now underway.
THE Daily Mail reported Thursday, Oct. 8, that a planning committee meeting was held last month in the village of Bratenahl, just outside Cleveland, and that a six-foot fence was unanimously approved despite some objections from nearby residents, records show.
A neighbor named Catherine Bolton reportedly told the Architectural Review Board that Kelce’s new purchase was a “terrible blow” to “the peace and quiet in Bratenahl.”
“There is a new owner, who is an absentee owner, who will not be there,” she said, according to court minutes of the hearing. Mail. (The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and pop star, 36, was not named.)
However, at a hearing this week, Bolton reportedly told the board that the 21,000-square-foot property was “recently purchased by Travis Kelce.”
THE Email reported that Bolton also allegedly took issue with the addition of trees near a terra cotta sewer pipe that Kelce and Swift’s home shares with his.
“Planting 50 evergreen trees just ten feet from a 100-year-old clay sewer pipe is virtually guaranteed to cause serious root intrusions, structural pipe failures, and catastrophic sewage backups,” Bolton – who reportedly used AI for his research – said, according to the Email.
“This candidate might decide to sell her house next year,” Bolton reportedly said. “What am I going to do when I have 50 evergreen trees on my sewer line and they’re gone?”
Another neighbor apparently took issue with the tip of the fence, saying it could pose a threat to animals.
Kelce and Swift’s team reportedly fired back, saying they tried to keep everyone happy while ensuring the A-list couple had privacy.
“The home was one of the largest sales in Cuyahoga County, so the owner is looking for privacy and security,” Tiny Construction said. Jacob Kutzwho is leading the project.
THE Email reported that at this week’s hearing, the council approved landscaping in front of Kelce and Swift’s home — but only on the condition that the trees be positioned with enough space to mature properly.
