Ted Cruz Calls JD Vance ‘Insecure’ and Says He’s Focused on Helping Republican Party Win Midterm Elections

The senator Ted Cruz retaliated J.D. Vance for suggesting he was already focused on a 2028 presidential run, calling the vice president “insecure” while insisting he was focused on the 2026 midterm elections.

“In my experience, people throw political bombs when they feel unsafe. » Cruz said in a telephone interview Saturday. “So he’s free to make whatever comments he wants. I’m going to continue to focus on the midterm elections and helping us win on Election Day in the next 30 days.”

Cruz’s comments came in response to an NBC News interview Thursday with Vance in which the vice president suggested Cruz was prematurely considering a run for the White House.

“It’s really obvious to me that at this moment, Ted Cruz is running for president,” Vance said. “Right now, that’s not the case. I’m trying to help elect Republicans. That’s what I’m going to continue to do.”
