The Apple Smart Home Control Center is called “HomeView”
Apple’s new smart home controller is the HomeView, and while it won’t ship in October, you’ll be able to get your hands on it before the end of 2026.
Over the past few months, rumors have intensified regarding a new smart home device that Apple is working on. With the October 13 event on the way and focused on smart home hardware, this will finally become a reality.
Published Sunday in Bloomberg In the “Power On” newsletter, Mark Gurman writes that the smart home hub will be called HomeView. Using a display and an A18 chip, it will function as a command center for an Apple-based smart home.
The “View” part of the name apparently reflects how it’s meant to be a display for users, with the intention of making it primarily a voice-controlled device. The screen, however, will still have touch support.
There won’t be any reason to touch the screen either, as it’s apparently not meant to be used with many apps at all. It will work with a “limited selection” of Apple apps, Gurman says, but it will lack an App Store and the ability to add more software.
In reality, it is intended to be the nerve center of the smart home, with Siri being the main channel for controlling it and the devices connected to it.
The HomeView will come in two variants. One will be a countertop model with a metal speaker base, sold in a choice of space gray, silver, starlight and pink colors.
The second version will be a wall edition with a flat, square base located just below the screen when mounted on the wall. The wall-mounted option will come in just two colors: space gray and silver.
Currently, the HomeView is expected to ship in mid-November. This means that it will be available to consumers one month after launch.
