The new James Bond revealed? Front-runner co-star claims cast member spilled the beans after drunken night out
Looks like someone has a permit to dump.
English actor Josh O’Connor could be the next James Bond, according to some quiet chatter in a London pub.
One of O’Connor’s cast members in the drama “Golden Boy” is convinced the actor will play Mr. Bond, saying he confessed to landing the role at a party, according to the Sun.
“I ran into one of Josh’s cast mates from ‘Golden Boy’ at The French House,” a source told the outlet on Thursday. “They were recognized by a lot of people who asked for selfies and we chatted in a corner completely by chance.”
“Out of nowhere, and fueled by a few glasses of lager, they blurted out that Josh was the next James Bond,” the source continued.
He added that the actor “insisted” that it was O’Connor, 36, who got the role.
“They said he told them he got the part when the cast of ‘Golden Boy’ had celebratory drinks after the play ended on Halloween,” the source claimed.
The source said the actor was “clearly very proud” of the actor.
Page Six has contacted Amazon and EON Productions for comment.
The next James Bond film, known as “Bond 26”, is expected to be released in 2028, although no official date has been announced yet. It will be developed by Amazon MGM Studios.
For now, the plot has remained a secret.
However, the biggest mystery behind this new development is who will play the great James Bond.
Rumored names include O’Connor, Jacob Elordi, Jack Lowden and Callum Turner. Screen tests are in progress.
In a new interview with the BBC on Tuesday, O’Connor said he was “very honoured” to be in the running to play Bond.
“It’s an incredibly bizarre, pinch-me moment…even being said in the same sentence and being considered for something like that,” O’Connor told the outlet. “To be considered in this same kind of bracket is extraordinary.”
However, he did not elaborate, explaining that he was “afraid” there would be “nothing to say beyond that.”
The previous James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, 58, stepped away from the role after starring in 2021’s “No Time To Die.”
Most recently, O’Connor starred as Dr. Daniel Kellner in the science fiction thriller “Disclosure Day.” He is also known for his role in the hit television series “The Crown”, in which he played King Charles III.
In 2021, he won a Primetime Emmy for his role in the television series, winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
