Samsung Galaxy S26 owners in the US are finally getting One UI 9. After initial confirmation of a September release and unexplained delays that slowed the rollout, the update is finally coming to Galaxy phones.
Samsung Bumpy One UI 9 Rollout
The Android 17-based update has started arriving on Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra devices, according to Reddit users, who confirmed the approximately 4GB download on T-Mobile.
This does not yet affect everyone. The unlocked Galaxy S26 phones don’t appear to have it, but the fact that it’s coming to some phones means the wider rollout is close.
The path has been strewn with pitfalls for this update. Samsung launched the stable One UI 9 in South Korea on September 16, then indicated September 21 for the next wave. That date passed, it was moved to September 28, and then Samsung’s Thai editorial team dropped the specific date altogether instead of just promising it would arrive “by September.”

Larger-scale deployment is also evolving. Samsung tracker Tarun Vats has now spotted stable versions of One UI 9 for a large part of the Galaxy A range, including the Galaxy A57, A37, A56, A36, A55, A35 and A34.
The A series is Samsung’s best-selling lineup (which is why Samsung is testing new battery replacement restrictions on Galaxy A phones), so these releases represent a much larger group of owners than the flagship S series. The Galaxy A34 was not part of the beta program, so seeing a stable release is a good sign for owners of older mid-range phones.
This follows new stable releases spotted for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 last week, which suggested Samsung was finalizing the update rather than continuing to test it.
What features of Samsung One UI 9 you expect
The update brings 11 new confirmed features, including My FanCam, Now Nudge, Warranty & Servicing, Security Brief, and expanded scam detection. Galaxy S25 and Z Fold 7 owners in the beta program already own most of them, but everyone is waiting for the stable version.
It’s not exactly clear whether all phones receiving the One UI 9 update will benefit from these features. I imagine the A-series devices will benefit from some AI-based tools depending on their chipset and RAM. But the flagship Galaxy S and foldable devices appear to benefit from the full suite of new tools, with the exception of Google’s major new Android AI tool.
Samsung has not publicly explained the delays. Considering how long One UI 9 has been testing and how many stable builds are currently installed on its servers, the delay looks more like a deployment issue than an unfinished update.
If Samsung sticks to its latest wording, Galaxy S26 owners in other regions, as well as Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 owners, should see One UI 9 by the end of this month. If it slips again, it will be in October.
