Savanna banana program
The Savannah Bananas and the rest of Banana Ball release the 2027 Banana Ball League schedule tonight with a multi-hour show from the Bananas’ longtime home at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia.
The announcement follows last weekend’s first-ever Banana Bowl played in front of a packed house of 41,000 people at Nationals Park in Washington DC. In the Banana Bowl, the Texas Tailgaters defeated the Savannah Bananas 2-1 in a showdown for the Banana Bowl title. The two teams were tied 1-1 after nine innings. Kyle Martin was named Banana Bowl MVP after hitting a two-run home run in the eighth inning for the Tailgaters.
The 2026 calendar was by far the largest ever in Banana Ball history. What was once a bouncing barnstorming team playing largely in Savannah has morphed into a real league (the Banana Ball Championship League) with six teams playing in 45 states, as the Loco Beach Coconuts and the Indianapolis Clowns have joined the Savannah Bananas, the Texas Tailgaters, the Party Animals and the Fire Department. The six teams each played 60 regular season games in 76 different stadiums, including 14 MLB ballparks and 10 football stadiums, attracting more than 3.2 million fans.
The Bananas promised the new schedule would be even longer, but details on what exactly that would entail were to be announced starting at 6 p.m. ET on October 15.
Banana Ball creator Jesse Cole announced at the start of the show that the Banana Bowl would leave the United States to play internationally for the first time in 2027 with the Mexico Series in Monterey, Mexico and Tijuana, Mexico on February 5-6 and February 12-13. Banana Ball will also travel to Canada for the Canada Series in Toronto on August 14-15 and in Winnipeg on August 26-28. Banana Ball will also travel to Puerto Rico for the first time with a match in San Juan, PR on January 17, 2028.
The 2027 calendar will be played in 79 stadiums in 75 cities. With the announcement of the schedule, the ticket lottery is now also open and will end on October 31.
The Blue Jays, Dodgers, D-backs, Giants and Rays are added to the list of MLB stadiums that host Banana Ball, meaning the Mets will be the only remaining MLB ballpark that has not hosted a Banana Ball game by the end of 2027.
The Banana Ball League is heading to Hawaii. With the addition of New Jersey as well, that leaves only four U.S. states that have not hosted or are not scheduled to host a Banana Ball game (Alaska, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Wyoming).
Cole also announced that in a football stadium, they would place a field in opposite corners of the stadium and teams would move from field to field each inning to ensure that every seat was behind/near home plate for part of the game. Cole announced it would be called “Banana Ball 360” and would debut at Notre Dame Stadium on June 26.
The 2027 Banana Bowl will be played in Nashville, Tennessee at New Nissan Stadium (the new home of the Tennessee Titans) on September 25.
And in a final announcement, there is a Banana Ball movie, “The Banana Ball Film” which will debut June 12 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
