Fever’s Sophie Cunningham Laughs Over WNBA Crybaby A’ja Wilson Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich

Dan describes the funniest reaction in the WNBA as Sophie Cunningham mocks A’ja Wilson’s total meltdown in front of a fan simply pointing the finger. While A’ja Wilson expected the entire league to rally around her after she left the field to confront a Fever fan, Sophie Cunningham did what she does best: add fuel to the fire and laugh in his face. Meanwhile, the Prime Video broadcast panel completely missed the mark by rushing to defend Wilson, and the outraged crowd on Bluesky immediately scapegoated Indiana fans with wild accusations before anyone even knew what was being said. Dan Dakich destroys Prime’s soft coverage, exposes the narrative push against Fever fans, and explains why Sophie Cunningham is officially the most entertaining player in the entire WNBA.

Caitlin Clark was win or go home, and she went wild.

The season ended for Clark and the Indiana Fever with a 94-83 loss to A’ja Wilson and the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in Thursday’s deciding Game 3.

Wilson led the charge with 36 points in the winning effort, dropping 21 by halftime.

The Fever kept it in single digits until the final two minutes, but the shots just weren’t falling down the stretch. Clark – the AP Comeback Player of the Year – finished with 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting.

Still, Indiana fought hard to save its season against the defending champions, headlined by Clark’s raw courage.

Trailing 82-77 in the fourth quarter with 3:16 remaining, Clark took an elbow to the face from Jewell Loyd.

With her mouth bleeding profusely, she quickly returned to the field, fighting fiercely against head coach Stephanie White and the game officials just to stay on the field.

League double standards and Vegas drama

The drama was at a fever pitch ahead of Thursday’s deciding match in Vegas.

A’ja Wilson’s technical foul in Game 2 was the talk of the town, largely overshadowing Caitlin Clark’s historic playoff milestones.

Aces coach Becky Hammon was asked about Wilson’s aftermath, which saw her cross the touchline to confront a fan in the stands. Although a clear case was made for a suspension, the WNBA made a business decision, looking the other way to leave Wilson unharmed in the incident.

Speaking on Thursday, Hammon doubled down on his support for his superstar:

WNBA REVEALS WHY A’JA WILSON WAS NOT EJECTED FOR APPROACHING A FEVER FAN DURING PLAYOFF GAME

“I think you saw A’ja get pushed around and there was no response. So there comes a certain point where a lot of variables come into play in the exchange that happened the other night.

“I’m 10 feet away from A’ja Wilson’s character. And it’s like someone saying, ‘Hey, your brother went to do something.’ No, I know the person in the situation, so I trust them in any situation. And she will be great tonight. I have no doubt about it.”

Collapse of coaching fever and noise off the field

The biggest loser in all this? Stephanie White, Fever head coach.

In her second season at Indiana, White proved that she is just a company stooge when things go wrong. While his opponents treated Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham like punching bags, White hid behind soulless PR fluff instead of defending his stars.

In a league that consistently ignores dirty plays against its top roster, White refused to fight for his team, showing a complete lack of courage when his players needed a fighter off the bench.

Despite the coaching issues, the Fever team still had enough talent to finish 28-16 as the sixth seed.

In what could be her final game for Indiana, guard Sophie Cunningham played 24 minutes, scoring just five points (2 of 4 FG). His biggest impact this season went well beyond scoring, gaining widespread notoriety for standing up for his values off the field.

The Fever played out their final minutes in frustration, knowing a hard-fought year was coming to an end.

During the three-game series, Clark averaged 20.0 points, 9.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.

This followed a dominant third-year regular season where she averaged 22.3 points, 8.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. Still looking for his first career playoff victory, Clark has already set the stage for a full-on revenge tour in year four.
