The sequel to “Love Hypothesis” in preparation at Amazon MGM and MRC
Author Ali Hazelwood took to Instagram Tuesday morning to reveal that “The Two-Body Problem,” a sequel to her 2021 novel “The Love Hypothesis,” will be released in February 2027. She also revealed that MRC is developing a film based on a new book for Amazon MGM Studios.
“‘I wrote a sequel to The Love Hypothesis’ isn’t a phrase I thought I’d say about a year ago, but now, strangely, I can’t imagine a world in which ‘The Two-Body Problem’ doesn’t exist,” Hazelwood wrote, sharing the cover of “The Love Hypothesis.” “I really look forward to talking more about this book and how it came to be in the coming months. For now, let me just say that the ‘TLH’ movie and its cast made me fall in love with Adam and Olive once again, that revisiting them has been an absolute pleasure.”
She added: “As someone VERY attached to stories and characters, I know that unannounced sequels can be mindless, so feel free to skip this book and crush it with whatever canon you prefer, and I’ll see you in the next one!”
Hazelwood then announced the news about the film. While prefacing that “nothing is guaranteed,” she confirmed that “MRC is developing” a “Two-Body Problem” film for Amazon MGM.
The first book in the series, “The Love Hypothesis,” was a New York Times bestseller and a BookTok sensation. The romantic comedy was recently adapted into a film for Prime Video, available on the platform on September 23. Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman starred. Directed by Claire Scanlon, from a screenplay by Sarah Rothschild.
“The Love Hypothesis” follows Olive Smith, an intelligent graduate student, who begins a fake relationship with Adam Carlsen, a fellow scientist and notoriously harsh professor known as “Dr. Evil” on campus.
