THE American economy grew at a faster pace than expected in the second quarter, according to the Commerce Department’s estimate.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) published its final reading of Second quarter GDPwhich showed that the economy grew at an annualized rate of 2.2% over the three-month period comprising April, May and June.
This figure exceeds the expectations of economists surveyed by LSEG, who expected GDP growth of 1.5% in the second quarter.
