“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered” arrived to such good reviews that it actually tied a 2026 record. Here’s the score and what the critics are saying.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is now available for all players, a wide-ranging update that overhauls not only the visuals, but also the entire gameplay and combat systems. This is the most significant addition to the game since its inception. Blood and wine released in 2016, and it arrives before an almost inexplicable new DLC, Songs from the pastreleased in 2027. That is 12 years after the launch of The Witcher 3, and developed in one way or another alongside the production of both The Witcher 4 And Cyberpunk 2077′s following the CDPR.
Monday afternoon, reviews came in for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remasteredand as you might expect, they are awesome. There aren’t many, the eight total reviews on PlayStation 5 make up the total metascore, a 94. But on Switch 2, Xbox and PC, there are no scores below 90, and a few more perfect 100s. Frankly, there aren’t any more reviews, because it’s a huge game and between the codes coming out weeks early, I doubt many have had time to play enough. I definitely haven’t done it with my code, but I hope to play more now.
This Metacritic score of 94 is tied with another score of 94 as the… highest-rated thing, game, DLC, or remaster released in 2026. That would be Sectora twin-stick shooter that’s not exactly a high-profile title, but critics loved it. Here are the top 10 of 2026 so far, if we include all categories of things rated:

The “bigger” games, which are full versions, are probably Forza Horizon 6, Valheim And Mina la Hollowwith Forza obviously the only true AAA title of the group. As for The Witcher 3with remasters, we always find ourselves in a strange situation where reviewers have to decide whether to re-review the original game and its update, or just the quality of the update itself, given that the quality of the original has already been established over the last decade. This is certainly true for The Witcher 3widely considered one of the best games of all time, and one of the best-selling, with 65 million copies sold, tied with Ancient Scrolls: Skyrim and ahead of the original Super Mario Bros.
As I write this, the remaster has just surpassed the original’s all-time Steam concurrent player count. Witcher 3, which reached a peak of 103,000 players over 6 years ago. Many have replayed the game multiple times even before this, but this remaster gives them a chance to do so for a specific reason, given all the upgrades. And of course, the original came out 11 years ago, and many simply never played it. Well, now is the time.
