TOWSON, MD. —
Baltimore County police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured Sunday night and the Towson University campus on alert.
Police say officers are investigating a shooting in the 8000 block of York Road. A man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. Authorities are asking people to avoid the area.
A shelter-in-place alert was issued across the Towson University campus Sunday evening, signaling an emergency situation in which everyone on campus was advised to shelter in place and close windows and doors.
TU Public Safety sent out an alert to the campus community at 7:20 p.m., reporting a shooting at 8013 York Road.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the university sent an email notice to community members that a shooting investigation was underway at the Cardiff Hall apartments and that there was police activity in the area amid the search for suspects.
The university reported other police activity on campus near Osler Drive related to the shooting.
No further information was immediately released.
