
Trump attacks Nobel committee after peace prize awarded to human rights lawyer
President Donald Trump took a hit at the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday after awarding this year’s peace prize to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, a South African human rights lawyer and judge who headed a United Nations commission that declared Israel committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The president reposted an article on Truth Social blow up the Nobel committee and Pillar while renting Trump’s foreign policy record.
“Today the Nobel Committee shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the former great Nobel Peace Prize winner by handing him over to Navi Pillay of the UN,” reads the law firm’s message. David Schoenwhich represented Asset during his second impeachment trial in 2021.
Trump has long maintained that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to resolve conflicts in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. Leader of the Venezuelan opposition Maria Corina Machadowho received the award last year, gave Asset his medal in January after a US operation captured then-Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.
