Trump signs proclamation he says will prevent future changes in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump signed a proclamation Thursday that he said will prevent future changes to the Oval Office and Cabinet Room because he has redesigned them.
“We’re making it a national monument and no one can touch it,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
Trump’s signing of the proclamation comes two days after voters, unhappy with his economic policies, kicked dozens of Republicans from power, handing control of Congress to Democrats.

It’s also the third day of the week that the president, a real estate mogul, delivers a speech focused on his pet projects in Washington, D.C., including a lavish ballroom and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has overseen numerous changes to the design of various rooms, including the Oval Office, where he filled wall space with portraits, a copy of the Declaration of Independence and numerous gold accents.
