Trump urges Minnesotans to ‘fight back’ against Somali immigrants
President Donald Trump continued his long-running attacks on Somalis on Thursday by urging Minnesotans to “fight back” against the state’s Somali community.
“The once great state of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali immigrants,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Minnesotans must fight back.”
He added: “The Somalis should not be allowed to do what they are doing with impunity. They see you as weak and stupid people. Fight Minnesota, fight back! If you need it, the federal government will come to your rescue.”
The White House did not immediately respond to an inquiry about how Trump wanted Minnesotans to “fight back.”
Minnesota has the largest Somali population in the United States
During his term, Trump has repeatedly attacked Somalis, as well as Somali-born Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Trump’s rhetoric against Somalis in Minnesota intensified following reports last year of dozens of people of Somali descent convicted of fraud schemes. Since then, Trump has called Somalis “crooks” and called Somalia “dirty, disgusting, dirty.”
