
Trump Won’t Reimburse Federal Government for Taxpayer-Funded Ads
President Donald Trump will not reimburse the federal government for taxpayer-funded advertisements promoting him and his administration ahead of the November midterm elections — and even released a new ad on Tuesday.
Following bipartisan reaction to the more than $10 million spent on what the White House dubbed “patriotic ads” Asset announced Monday on Truth Social that its super PAC would cover the cost of the ads. But White House officials clarified to POLITICO Tuesday that the president’s position does not mean the PAC will pay for spots that have already aired.

The advertisements were would have paid for with funds from a $20 million contract awarded by the Department of Homeland Security. One ad is titled “God does Trump. Another is almost identical to a 2024 presidential campaign ad Asset was broadcast, although it ended with the message “Paid for by the US government”.
