Trump’s approval ratings fall to new low, polls show | Donald Trump
Donald Trump’s approval rating reached a record high on Monday, according to new opinion polls.
A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Trump’s approval rating at a record high of 32%. That poll included the president losing support from independent voters and Latinos, who had backed him in 2024. The decline could prove disastrous for the Republican Party a month before the midterm elections that will determine control of Congress.
Before boarding a flight to Nebraska on Monday, Trump ignored questions about his approval rating.
“I’m doing great,” Trump told a reporter, who asked about recent polls showing the president losing support among Latino voters, before blaming CNN and the media.
But according to an NBC News/Telemundo poll released Sunday, 59 percent of Latino voters prefer a Democratic-controlled Congress, double the number who supported the party two years ago. According to this poll, only 24% of Hispanic Americans approve of Trump’s performance.
Trump has spent recent days campaigning across the country for Republican candidates, although even conservative states are starting to show a loss of support. Some Republicans have also begun distancing themselves from the president on issues such as immigration, in an attempt to retain local support.
With Americans sour over the economy, the war with Iran and other key problems they blame on the administration, the impact of negative sentiment could reach far and wide.
