TSA Agents’ Search Triggers ‘Precise Recall’
Seattle airport security recently made a small catch, the TSA reports in an article. TSA agents at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport said the X-ray images revealed a metal contraption with three claw-like blades, prompting a bag search that revealed a set of “mutant blades” that “looked like a cross between Wolverine-style claws and Freddy Krueger blades, a stark reminder that some props are better suited to movie screens than airplane cabins.”
The passenger surrendered his claws at the checkpoint. Surveillance Officer Ann Rhoades calls the discovery one of the strangest objects she has seen in seven years. When TSA agent Dennis Oishi “asked the passenger if there was anything sharp in the bag, he said he wasn’t sure,” Rhoads says. “Obviously there was.” CBS News notes that sharp objects are allowed in checked baggage as long as they are “sheathed or securely packaged to avoid injury to baggage handlers and screeners,” per TSA guidelines.
