Tyler Perry Announces $57 Million Beverly Hills Mansion
Tyler Perry is saying goodbye to some star-studded California real estate.
The billionaire filmmaker has listed his sprawling Beverly Hills estate – which once served as the temporary residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – for a whopping $57 million as he prepares to move to Puerto Rico.
The 22.5-acre development, nestled inside the gated community of Beverly Ridge Estates, is centered on a Mediterranean-style mansion of approximately 24,500 square feet with eight bedrooms, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Perry purchased the land for just $4.3 million in 2004 and completed construction of the massive residence in 2012.
The expansive Tuscan-style villa has eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, as well as a library and large entertainment areas. Outside, the grounds feature a swimming pool and fountain, according to Architectural Digest.
Privacy is also a major part of the package. The home spans over 22 acres inside an exclusive gated enclave, creating a secluded compound in the middle of Beverly Hills.
And there’s plenty of space beyond the main residence. The property also includes a separate one-bedroom guesthouse and staff quarters – accommodations that have proven useful for Perry’s distinguished guests.
The estate has reportedly hosted a string of celebrities over the years, including Oprah Winfrey and former President Barack Obama, according to Architectural Digest. Notable temporary residents included the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who remained there after moving to the United States in 2020. They have since returned to the United Kingdom after several years living in California.
“We needed a home and he also provided security,” Markle later said of Perry during the couple’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which she announced her pregnancy with her youngest child.
And the Beverly Hills estate isn’t the only trophy property Perry is putting on the market.
In June, he listed his sprawling retreat in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for $39.5 million. This property includes an approximately 10,988 square foot custom log home spanning 37.62 acres.
Together, the two listings are asking for a whopping $96.5 million.
The liquidation comes as Perry, 57, prepares for a major lifestyle change.
Earlier this month, the actor, producer and studio mogul revealed that he plans to move to Puerto Rico in early 2027 while reducing his famously incessant work schedule.
“Yeah, I’m moving to Puerto Rico at the beginning of the year, and I’m moving back a lot,” Perry said during an appearance on “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.”
“He’s spending less and less time” in California, listing agent Santiago Arana of the agency told the Journal.
Perry still controls a formidable real estate empire.
His holdings include a megamansion near Atlanta, as well as Tyler Perry Studios, his massive 330-acre production complex built on a former military base. He also owned property in the Exuma Cays of the Bahamas.
Its Beverly Hills listing comes as Los Angeles’ high-end real estate market continues to grapple with the effects of the city’s real estate tax and this year’s wildfires.
Beverly Hills itself, however, has proven more resilient. The median sales price there reached $4 million in the three months ending in August, up 34.1% from a year earlier, according to Redfin.
