Ubisoft shares Cryptic Assassins Creed Codename Hexe update
Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe was announced as early as 2022, but aside from a creepy teaser, we still don’t know much about it. In a new blog post, Ubisoft has shared a cryptic clue that could shed light on the project – if you can decode it, of course.
In the blog post, Ubisoft laid out their vision for the future of Assassin’s Creed and, of course, Codename Hexe plays an important role in that future. At first glance, the update on the upcoming game is vague; the blog post simply says: “We’re making steady progress on this darker Assassin’s Creed experience, although we still have work to do. We know it’s been a long wait, and we’re grateful for your patience and continued enthusiasm for the project.”
But it looks like more concrete updates will be coming next year, with the message continuing: “The team remains focused on achieving the unique vision at the heart of this project, and we will share our next major update in 2027“That’s about all the information about Hexe that Ubisoft has shared, so it looks like we’ll have to wait until next year to get any concrete information about the game.
Ubisoft has, however, included a little hint for dedicated players with a knack for deciphering coded messages. After the Codename Hexe entry, Ubisoft simply writes: “ZKLWAVN MBEXNK ULYCNJ… LWY01… I#########F // QNTMAKHX TWTEMZL. YSIZKQ AADSWX NFAAMPHP.//” I’m not sure what that means, but I’m sure fans will be able to decode it eventually.
Whatever it’s called, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe will likely be the first mainline Assassin’s Creed game after 2025’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Aside from the spooky theme of its lone teaser, we don’t know much about when it will take place, but I imagine sorcery will be a major theme.
We know little about the game so far. Earlier this year, a leaker suggested that a popular Assassin’s Creed character would be returning. We’ve also heard that the game has been reworked internally to change some of its more magical elements. The staff was also reshuffled earlier this year, after the game director and creative director left the project.
