UFC Vegas 121 video: Raul Rosas Jr. wins main event after Raoni Barcelos passes out in scary moment of fifth round

The main event of UFC Vegas 121 was one of the best fights of the year, but ended in scary fashion.

Raul Rosas Jr. and Raoni Barcelos competed in their first UFC headliners Saturday at Meta APEX. After four wild rounds, the fifth round was where the fight stopped after Rosas scored a takedown, and Barcelos went unconscious and limp.

The fight was action-packed throughout the first two rounds, with Rosas coming out guns blazing early, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at his veteran opponent. Barcelos began to close the cap and used that momentum in the second round – landing nearly 60 significant strikes over the course of the round as Rosas visibly began to slow down.

The third round went back and forth, with Barcelos securing a nasty foot sweep takedown and a dominant back position. Rosas was able to sweep, get great control and land on good ground and hammer. But Barcelos got up and continued to accumulate damage and fatigue on Rosas’ side.

In the fourth, it was all Barcelos, delivering pillar shots to the feet and ground to Rosas, nearly ending the fight on several occasions. But in the fifth, Rosas went for it, knowing he needed to finish, then scored the takedown that ended the fight.

With multiple replays, it was hard to see what actually took Barcelos out, but he was kicked out of APEX.

After the victory, Rosas criticized Barcelos for his toughness, demanded a bonus and demanded the top seven opponents.
