UFC Vegas 121 video: Security intervenes following Ailin Perez’s controversial victory against Norma Dumont

Ailin Perez won the grudge match against Norma Dumont, but the fight almost didn’t end.

Perez and Dumont competed in a rivalry clash in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 121. After an up-and-down clash, as the final horn sounded, it took several members of security to step in and keep the two ladies separated before Perez was announced as the surprising unanimous decision winner.

Perez set the tone in the first round by winning the striking battle – albeit a competitive one – but a late round takedown sealed a clear round for Perez. Dumont’s aggression showed a little more in the second round, scoring an early takedown, but Perez managed to get back to his feet, which is where the majority of the round was fought. Both women became a little more lukewarm as the stanza began, although Dumont landed the most significant punch of the round in the final 90 seconds or so. Dumont started taunting and talking to Perez, and almost ate a fist back for his trouble.

The third round looked a lot like the second, although Perez eventually managed to grab Dumont and push her against the fence, while brutally hitting her knee. Perez landed a big left hand on the horn and Dumont continued to taunt his opponent until security intervened.

The result was a 29-28 on all three scorecards for Perez, which left Dumont stunned, then the fight almost resumed after Perez danced.

“She treated me like a prostitute, what do you want me to say?,” Perez said in the post-fight interview.
