Ukraine received ‘no warning’ of latest Russian ballistic missile strike on kyiv – POLITICO
“The Russians attacked both our energy facilities and critical infrastructure, sending absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from striking Ukraine. Nineteen regions of our country were attacked in these two days alone,” he added.
US President Donald Trump claimed Monday that Russia and Ukraine agreed to an energy ceasefire because he said so – “and if that ceasefire was violated, they both violated it.”
“Actually (Russian President Vladimir Putin) wants to make a deal, and we have to get Zelensky to want to make a deal,” Trump said.
At a press briefing Tuesday, Katie Zacharia, the president’s new press secretary, hesitated when asked whether the United States had stopped sharing information with Ukraine.
“I’ll have to get back to you on that,” she said.
Russia has not yet commented on the ballistic strikes, but issued a general statement saying it had struck military and weapons production facilities across Ukraine.
However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that Zelensky did not deserve a break in fighting in response to the energy ceasefire: “I don’t think he deserves a break. I don’t think we will buy assurances and promises again,” he said.
